If I upgrade through the phone line, will I lose PTVnet? If so, is there an easy way to upgrade without the phone line?

Yes, if you connect your unit to the phone line, or configure a PTVnet configured system to make its daily call through the network, an automatic software update will overwrite the changes made as part of the PTVnet configuration.

The Slicer can be used to upgrade a PTVnet configured unit to a later version of the software, however this is a DIY software product so you need to know what you are doing.
