I am not getting a signal from my dtv tivo thru the usb port. Using the linkys usb200m ethernet adapter. Does not show up on my router dhcp router list for clients nor my network majic network screen. Use this for the tytool connection and tivoweb. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Buddy,
By default, USB connections are not active on DirecTV TiVo units, so there should be no expectation of any of those things working.

I must be using the wrong terminolgy. The plug in the rear has been working and sending a signal thru the usb200m ethernet adapter until last week. Just replaced the hard drive with a networked ptv hard drive 3 months ago. What would make this stop sending ? I can not get an ip address for the tytool and tivoweb plus until it sends.
I just ordered a 1 ACC-USB20 USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter from dvrupgrade in case the old one is bad. If it is not the adapter what would cause no signal?

You are definitely not providing enough information, so the more you can provide, the better.
By "PTV" you mean PTVnet? So you replaced a drive in your xxx TiVo with a PTVnet kit?
We don't install tytool, so how did that get there?
What else is there to the story? A software update to your TiVo perhaps?
What sort of network troubleshooting have you done and/or what else has changed in your environment?
Please be as thorough as possible, as it will make it much easier to respond.

Ok
Phillips 704 direct tv tivo
Ptvnet hard drive with networking installed in Sept (as replacement old one kept rebooting)
linksys usb200m ethernet adapter
Ethernet wire thru netgear xe102 wall plugged bridge
Was working fine and was able to use tivoweb plus and tytool to extract movies/tv programs
Last week I wasnt able to get shows on tytool and I noticed that the IP address was not correct and apparently that something had updated(windows update or dtv update probably) all the ip address had changed- found them on the router dhcp screen and my network majic screen that shows me all the info of my network-it shows the ip and mac addresses (computer-tivo-router-printer-laptop).
The tivo still records correctly . Need the IP address for this tivo..

I have gone into the info settings and it shows that no phone call has been made since Nov 10th- it used to do this regulary and make updates .
Shows software verison as 6.4a-01-2-101 - should be 6.2 shouldnt it?
I dont remember messing with the phone settings - it always updated itself via the internet(I have a vonage phone via internet)
So it appears the software has updated to 6.4- suggestion on getting back to 6.2 and the ptvnet network settings.
Thanks

If you are allowing the TiVo to make its daily call, either by phone, OR by network, then it has the potential of updating its software and overwriting the changes we make as part of PTVnet. By default, the daily call functionality is turned off, however if you make modifications to the software to make the daily call via Internet, and you started with a 6.2a installation, then yes, its likely your software was updated.
If you want to get it back to 6.2a/PTVnet, you'd need to send the drive for a recertification ($60) from the 'special services' area of our site, or use DIY software (PTVnet and InstantCake) if its your preference.

Thanks for your help. Would the instant cake and other require a serial cable without taking the door off my pc hard drive? If not then I may have to send it to you..
Thanks

2 more questions
I did an ftp of my var to get the execute string and shell prompt right for my computer and tivo to see each other and I went into tivoweb plus and set the name for mrv- would this have done anything to the phone settings?
I have an old hard drive from digitalrecorder.com before I knew better - could I send this one to you for update?
