View Full Version : InstantCake Series 2 Tivo Problem
I have a Series 2 40 Hour with a Lifetime Tivo. It is going on its 4th year and the hard drive in it just died. I have a new hard drive that is a 200gb maxtor and the program instant cake. I followed the instructions and loaded instant cake on my new hard drive fine. I put it in my Tivo and it powers up and at the main menu I hit "clear and delete everything" like it says to do. I re-do the whole setup fine until I get to the last part. The last part makes the phone call out to get the guide information and it says it should take 20-30 min. This step usually takes almost an hour for me and then Tivo will just reset itself and it will go back to the first step of the setup. The hard drive will only reset during that step only after about an hour not randomly. Thanks in advance!

Are you certain that the new hard drive you are using doesn't have a problem with it? IE, have you run diagnostics on it?
Are you certain that there isn't somethihng else wrong with the unit - loose cable, or perhaps something else wrong with the hardware?
This sounds more like a hardware problem than anything else....
