Hi All,

Just found this site and did a little reading.

I have a Series 2 DT Tivo that I'd like to upgrade the HDD on and transfer over existing programming from my stock 80hr. box.

Instant Cake appears to require 2 IDE channels to use and I couldn't help but think that there has to be a program that exists to handle more modern systems (I have 4 SATA ports and only 1 IDE channel).

It would be greatly appreciated if some insight and/or suggestions on this dilemma could be shared.

Happy Holidays All,

Newer versions of InstantCake for more modern units (ie Series3 and TiVo HD) with SATA drive, do contain SATA drive support as part of the boot CD.

Many of the Series2 versions only require one IDE port, but your particular version does require two IDE ports (unless you edit the script with hard-coded device names).

Either way, though - InstantCake is designed to create a 'fresh' install on a new drive for your system, NOT transfer programming over. That is a service we offer along with our kits (its called a GOLD installation) and its how we actually make our money. If you are interested in preserving your programming and settings as part of upgrading your unit, please check out our main web site (http://www.dvrupgrade.com) and the GOLD installation service.

Thx,

Lou
