I have a phillps ptv-100 I got thru E-bay. I am having trouble connecting to tivo for the setup. I understand it could be there problem, but I'm not sure. this unit also has a lifetime subscription, if I do repairs or upgrades, will that affect my life time subscriptons ?? thanks

No, repairs and upgrades will not affect the lifetime subscription.

But you may have the issue that people are talking about on Tivo Community, where Series 1 units cannot complete the download during daily calls or Guided Setups.
