I went away on vacation and when I came back my TiVo is stuck on the Welcome...Powering Upscreen. Is there a way to determine what the issue is (i.e. power supply, software, hard drive)? Any help would be appreciated. I am a newbie but I have no issues opening up electronics and such.

Most probably it is the hard drive. I would order instantcake and a new hare drive to fix it. Use a 3 1/2 PATA drive any size up to 750 GB. Good Luck. if the drive is ordered from DVR upgrade the drive comes with the instantcake image installed and is usually a silent drive. :D

I have been trying for a while to replace a bad drive in my Samsung sir-s4080r, and I have finnally reached the point where it starts to run the zipper. It gets to the point where it is looking for the hacked kernel, and the error it reports can be seen on the (no kernel.gif) image. It says there is no hacked kernel in the s2_kernels/7.2.2-oth-k1 folder. Please see 7.2.2-oth-K1 gif image to see what is actually in that folder. Just to be 100% sure I got the right thing I went back and purchased another LBA48 Boot CD version with Enhancements from DVRUPGRADE.COM, and I got the same exact thing. Maybe the first one was bad or I am putting it in the wrong location. Let me know what you think is going wrong. Thanx in advance for any help anyone can send my way.

Sorry, I don't hack and have no experience with the Zipper. Try the underground forum in the TiVo community.

From the screen-shots you've posted, I'd guess that you are either specifying the directory name incorrectly or you've not put the kernel in the right place. Without knowing exactly what you've done, it is impossible to tell.

You might consider just using PTVnet and InstantCake to build your drive, then running tweak.sh from the /ptvupgrade/bin directory as we've included that for folks who would rather run the zipper, instead. Beyond that, there is not much zipper knowledge on these forums since its not a DVRupgrade product; consider using TCF instead (there is a zipper thread over there).
