I own two HDVR2s and want to upgrade the hd drives. One is currently v3.1 an the other is v6.4.

- Can I purchase ONE InstantCake and ONE PTVnet adn upgrade blank HD for each HDVR2, or do I need to purchase TWO copies (each) of IC and PTVnet?

- If I want MRV, is IC v6.2a or v6.4a best?

- Is IC 6.4a best for all uses? why offer v6.2s?

- Sounds like I MUST install PTVnet BEFORE IC?

- Anyother recommondations for CI/PTVnet combos?

TIA,
wirelessmike

Technically you should purchase two copies of each. One set for each unit you wish to upgrade.

Only one option if you want to use MRV and that is to use 6.2a of the operating system. Remember, MRV code is part of 6.2a and not part of 6.4a, but you still have to do additional hacks to enable it, and that is beyond the scope of what our products do (search around, though, there are some posts on what to do to turn it on).

See previous response!

No, but if you are creating a new drive and using both PTVnet and InstantCake then you need to boot with the PTVnet CD and then supply the InstantCake CD when prompted. Please see the directions for more details.

Best to purchase the USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter offered on our site to avoid any possible compatibility issues.

One of my HDRV2s is on 6.4a. Is it OK to use IC6.2a&PTV? The EPG data OK?

Since my unit HAD phoned home to DirectTV and they think I am running v6.4a, will running v6.2a&PTV be a problem? I never plan for it to phone home again.

If I read it correctly, since all Season Passes will be new, then the EPG data format / Season Pass issues will not be a problem, correct?

No EPG data mismatch?
