Hello,

I recently purchased the InstantCake software, and found through the forum that I could have used a less supported tool called BlessTivo, which would marry the two drives together.

I am wondering if the instant cake formatting could do the same thing, and if there is anything additional I need to consider when adding the 2nd drive in my tcd24008a.

I also would like to know where to put the jumper on the secondary drive, and whether or not the open slot comes with an IDE stripe. (I am doing this for my doctor, he doesn't want to re-set up or lose any recorded programs.)

Thank you in advance for a quick reply,

M

BlessTiVo is a program that can be used to partition a drive so that it can be added to a single drive unit which has never been upgraded before. IE The software on the original drive in the unit must not have been previously modified/expanded.

InstantCake is a software tool for installing a fresh TiVo OS on a blank, or previously used drive or drives, and it will also expand to utilize any extra space offered by using a drive larger than the original.

These are two entirely different tools used for two entirely different purposes.

If you want to use two drives in your unit, simply connect them BOTH to your PC and allow InstantCake to image and expand onto both of them, but note that you will lose whatever is on both of those drives as part of the process.
