Well, it looks like my Toshiba SD-H40 may be toast. I powered it up last week and got to the "Welcome. Powering up..." screen. Checked on the net and found the utilities to do a backup of the drive. Bought a new 160gb Maxtor to replace the Maxtor in the DVR, and tried to restore the backup on that drive. Found that my backup was toast along with the HDD. Went to DVRupgrade and bought the Instant Cake software for the SD-H400. Completed the restore on the 160gb HDD. Put everything back together and after an hour, it's still sitting at the "Welcome. Powering up..." screen. I am not even getting the amber power light anymore. I guess my question is:
Is there anything else I can do the get this machine up and runnig again, or is it toast, like the original HDD.
Thankd,
Harley Rider

I am having the same issue, anyone has any idea what is going on? In my case I bought the 160GB upgrade for my SD-H400 - it won't boot. What to do next?

The problem may not be a bad hard drive. Have you considered a repair (http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/tivo-repair.cfm)?
