The other week I bought a 146-hour upgrade for my Sony SAT-T60.

I believe I have followed all the instructions as directed - I powered off the unit, waited for it to cool down, unscrewed the HD mounting platter, disconnected the wire to the fan, the power cable to the drive and the IDE cable to the drive.. Next I removed the drive, screwed in the new drive (to the platter) re-attached the three cables screwed everything back together. I reattached all the external cables, powered it on and for over two hours it has been saying "Welcome. Powering up."

a) should it take this long?
b) how much longer should I wait?

I just received another UPS package with a disk cd i, labeled "SATT60 3.56". Looking at this disk in my iMac it looks like it has isolinux on it. Has this been mailed to me by mistake

It should only take a few minutes for the unit to boot with the new drive installed; the first time through, it will reboot itself once during the boot process and then come up as it normally would.

In situations like this, we recommend you remove the upgrade drive and reinstall the original drive just to make sure everything with the TiVo is working fine.

THEN, remove your original drive and try the upgrade drive again. Sometimes, during the first install, a cable can be loose and disconnecting/reconnecting everything again helps to ensure a proper installation.

If it still doesn't work, then there may be something wrong with the drive you received, or possibly something is wrong with the unit. It is uncommon, but some units, especially older ones, have power supplies which are beginning to fail and they may work fine with the original drive and not with a newer drive. This is not very common, but we have seen that before.

It would appear that after speaking with support that the drive is likely at fault. they are sending me a replacement.
