Just got an HR10-250 from a friend. DirecTV will be back to install on Monday. I have questions about the HR10-250 hacks. Been on a bunch of forums, been reading the stickies, but so much of the information is either old, or scattered, or not related to my particular model. I know linux fine (just for some background info)

So, if I get the images, and hack the device, what are the results?

I understand that with the HR10-250 I'll be able to share pics and mp3s (which I don't really care about so much - I have modded xboxes in several rooms in the house running XBMC and connected to my file servers). The ability to pull files off of the TiVo appeals to me if I can burn them to disc, because it beats running my comcast DVR into a DVDR.

I'm not 100% positive on what the webtivo stuff can do. I can remotely log into the website at home and schedule recordings, etc.? Do I get program info (Tivo service guide) from it somehow, or is there an easy way to at least hook it up to and integrate in some fashion with Titan TV or XMLTV for free 3rd party program guides, or do I have to go to a different site to figure out what/when I want to record, and then use WebTivo like an old dumb VCR (just program in time and day)?

One thing that I'd really like to do is allow streaming of live and recorded TV to another room. The setup would be to put CCXStream on the Tivo or xbox, and then allow a modded Xbox running XBMC to stream. Upstairs we don't have cable run, but I have an XBOX hooked up to the home network. So I'm pretty sure I can do this, but can I do this while watching something ELSE on the TV that the tivo is hooked up to? IOW, I may want to watch ABC on a TV through the Tivo, and upstairs they may want to stream NBC. Since the Tivo has 2 tuners I'm *guessing* that this can be done so long as the 2nd tuner is not recording anything or downloading program guide data.

If that is possible, how does changing channels work on the remote location? Would a guest have to yell downstaris and ask me to switch tuners, change to TNT, and then I switch back to my tuner? :-)

Also, I see on the (main) DVRUpgrade pages that there are FW versions 6.4a, 6.3f and 3.1.5 or something like that available for the DirecTV HR10-250. Which should I get? Is it safest getting the latest? On the main site here it provises 2 links and says if you don't know which version to get, check out the links. Well 1 link is to this main forum. Not a thread, but the main forum listing. The other leads to the main forum listing for tivocommunity or something like that. Best I could do was look at wikipedia, and from the descriptions there, I don't see why I would want anything OTHER than the latest. Are there features in older FWs that are not available in later ones?

Thanks,
