    yeah 4 noobs

    Hi,
    Need a little noob help.
On the things that I know alot about, I help the newbs so hopefully on things like this, that I don't know alot about, kharma pays me back

Anyway, got a zipperd drive from DVR. Trying to unpack the mfs_ftp file on the tivo, but when I use the bash program in TivoWebPlus I can't get to the /var direcotry. If I type cd /var it executes, but doesn't give me a bash to then type the cpio command. When I click back I think it goes back to the root directory.

I'm new to Linux (duh), but still can't seem to find the way to do this using TivoWebPLus 1.3.1
    Thanks
    JM

Trying very hard to understand exactly what it is you are asking here. Can you back up a bit, provide a little more detail on what it is you are trying to accomplish and how you are trying to do it? I hate to just completely ignore questions that others aren't answering, but it looks like you are attempting to do something very complex and you are providing very scattered information on what it is and the approach you are taking.

PS To new posters; try to be descriptive in your subject line, too!

    thanks

Thanks Lou for getting back to me.

I figured out my problem though and apologize as I learned I posted in the wrong forum.
My problem related to a separate piece of software.

Thanks again for offering to help.

    Sure,
I wasn't able to connect to my box to use linux.
This can be done from the Run box in the start menu.
Do a search for Telnet for details.

    Thanks
