    Installation help!!!!!

I bought the software, downloaded it to my PC, burned a CD, shut down. Opened up the computer and connected the new hard drive and set the bios to boot from the CD.

Booted up....no problem. Gave me the prompt:

    boot:

Hit return. It gave me a bunch of stats about my computer - where each drive was located, etc. etc. Once it got past the drives (hda, hdb, hdc, etc.) it just sat there. For hours! Tried again. This time, reconfiguring things so that the TiVo drive was hda. Same thing. Ditto changing it to hdb.

What am I doing wrong??? Is it something in my connections or is there a command I am supposed to do??? Seems I'm not getting anything anyone else is talking about, and I'm stumped!

    Thanks,
    David

Do it again. Once it gets past all of the info about the computer and drives, it should be sitting at a command prompt.

    Type

    ls

(that's the command that means list, so the first letter is not an uppercase i, it's a lowercase L)

If it returns a list of files then what you have is a live CD intended to provide the tools to allow you to backup a working drive and restore that backup to another drive. In other words, it's not the $40 Instant Cake cd that should be doing things automatically.
