DSR 6000r01 inf reboot

Hi. I got instant cake for my old DSR6000r01, which is a series 1 DTiVo, and I flashed the drive, put it in the DVR, booted it up to test it. Got to "downloading satellite info," but didn't get too far because it wasn't hooked up to a satellite. Unplugged it and went to school and work. Got home, plugged it into tv and satellite and it keeps rebooting. Reflashed the harddrive, plugged it into satellite on first boot, still reboots. Did an experiment: reboots progressively quicker when sattelite isn't plugged in, eventually doesn't even get to the red screen. Any ideas?

sounds like a bad hard drive, have you run diags on it? if not, do it...

if its not the hard drive, the unit itself could be damaged - sometimes the white ribbon cable between the power supply and the system board can cause problems in aging units; CCS has a service to repair these older units...
