I just purchased the PTVnet and InstantCake for a Samsung 4040R. Which I used successfully.


Can I use one or both of these disks on my Hughes DirectV tivo sd-dv40? Or do I need to purchase both disks for the hughes unit?

	InstantCake InstantCake is a DIY software utility used to image a a new hard drive so that it can be used in your TiVo DVR. This is an easy way to repair a TiVo with a defective drive, or to upgrade a TiVo by installing a larger drive in place of the original.

	PTVnet PTVnet is a software tool to enable USB ports on many Series2 DirecTV TiVo units. By enabling the USB ports, one can connect to a home network with a compatible USB 2.0 Ethernet adapter, and access TiVoWebPlus which is also installed on the unit as part of the PTVnet suite of software tools.

InstantCake for each make/model of unit is different.

The PTVnet software is licensed for use on a single unit, however the software for both of these units is exactly the same.
