    InstantCake Worked But Now What?

    InstantCake was a sucess, got the tivo hooked up, hard drive in place powered up... "powering screen" goes away only to go to a gray (white) screen. Is this normal? What is to happen next? Is the drive not formated right?

    Is the drive New? The only way the drive could be formated wrong is with NTFS.Did you format the drive with NTFS? Have you done a low level format on the drive? Have you checked for bad sectors, Have you run the disk manufacturer's diagnostics? Good luck with your testing

    Ok the tivo is running but it says i need to activate it. Do I need to activate this as a new box or will my old account work for this box?

    if you have an old access card tied to your account you can use it but you will have to call 1-800-directv and tell the that your old TiVo broke and to please remarry your access card to the new receiver and give them the receiver ID. As long as nothing is owed on the new receiver ID they will do it.
