    instantcake w/ laptop?

I probably should've asked this question before I downloaded and burned the image but can you use instantcake with a laptop?

Unless your laptop has some sort of IDE interface you can use for connecting your target drive, you are going to have a problem there. What you might want to do is consider purchasing a pre-configured kit, we can give you a trade-in credit of your software purchase. You can use our contact form to request the credit, just place your order and provide your order information and we can look things up and get them sorted. Thx.

I used my desktop at work and I was able to bake a new drive. I've put it in my tivo and at least it boots up now and I can get to Tivo Central. What do I do now? Of course, I didn't write down the notes like I should've when baking my drive....

    Repeat your guided setup...

Unfortunately, I get a connection problem error (p07) when trying to connect to the tivo service.

I was wondering about the laptop as well. A interface through IDE for the target drive? Could this be accomplished though a Hard drive enclousure? The Hard drive enclousure is of course a connection to the laptop by USB.

For the Series1 and Series2, you won't be able to do that. InstantCake for those models only supports IDE interfaces (not USB).

For the Series3 and TiVo HD, you can use a USB-IDE/SATA adapter (available on our web site) and therefore, you can use a laptop.
